CatfishNumber and Lookify are reverse number search tools with one main goal: to identify a phone number.
But they’re each used in different number lookup cases (which I’ll explain in a bit). Is CatfishNumber or Lookify a better fit for you? Stay tuned to find out.
| CatfishNumber (global) | Lookify (US) | |
| Use case | Casual lookups & catfish checks, | Business lookups & API use |
| Pricing | $6.95/2 lookups; $11.95/5 lookups | Free or paid ($29/mo) |

What’s the Difference Between CatfishNumber and Lookify?
CatfishNumber is typically used casually and for catfish detection, whereas Lookify is more useful for business-related number lookups.
📍 CatfishNumber works worldwide, in 100+ countries and multiple country codes, while Lookify works for US numbers only and big carriers.
Lookify is for strategic use – features like API and Integration make it easier for businesses to reverse-search numbers and find contacts.
On the other hand, CatfishNumber is more user-friendly. It’s more convenient for personal reasons and is quick & easy to set up.
💵 Another big difference is the pricing. CatfishNumber doesn’t have monthly subscriptions but rather single credits, making it perfect for occasional use.
Lookify is subscription-based, and each plan comes with its own perks. This service is best for repeated use if you want to get a bang for your buck!
Other than that, both engines identify callers and find their real names, locations, digital footprints, and other valuable intel.
CatfishNumber vs. Lookify – Comparing Features

CatfishNumber has more identification features compared to Lookify, whose features are more “utility-like”. Here’s why:
1. CatfishNumber’s Features
CatfishNumber’s features focus on ID-ing phone number owners. You’ll find demographic & telco information, and their digital footprint:
- First & last name
- Profile photo and location
- Dating and social media accounts (Snapchat, TikTok, Tinder, etc.)
- Number details: carrier, line type, and VoIP
- Risk Level (community reports and warnings)
CatfishNumber is excellent at detecting VoIP or burner numbers, which is pretty uncommon in the world of reverse number searching.
My personal favorite? Similar to Melissa Lookups, CatfishNumber has over 100 country codes to choose from. Extra points for inclusivity!
The Lookify reverse number search tool lets you use it across other apps and find personal information on a number.
- Personal details: names, socials, addresses, gender, etc.
- Number data: service provider/carrier and number type
- Risk assessment: Is the number associated with suspicious activity?
- View/make reports on numbers
- API & Integration – identify or find contacts across other apps
The API and Integration features are unique, as they let you integrate Lookify into other tools/apps. This makes it easier for companies to find leads, verify contacts, and detect scams.
Which Has Better Pricing: CatfishNumber or Lookify?
CatfishNumber’s pricing is more beneficial to occasional searchers, and Lookify’s pricing is more suitable for frequent lookups and companies.
🐟 CatfishNumber’s prices & payment plans:
CatfishNumber has 2 pricing plans with the same features – the only thing that changes is the number of lookups; otherwise, the efficiency stays the same!
- 2 lookup credits for $6.95
- 5 lookup credits for $11.95.
This pricing system gets a thumbs-up from me because I don’t reverse search numbers as often, so I didn’t have to pay double for valuable info.
🔎 Lookify free & paid subscription plans:
Lookify’s free plan can’t identify callers, only basic geo details and partial telco data. Oh, and you get to see user reports, too.
Then you have the Starter pack, which is $29/mo ($1 trial available). You get 500 lookups a month, but not the API access and Priority Support.
The Professional tier has 4,000 searches and costs $199/mo…ouch. It comes with every feature discussed thus far: identifying + integration and support.
Enterprise is a special Lookify plan for businesses that costs $5,000/yr, with extras like account management, higher rate limits, and on-demand quotas.
Are CatfishNumber or Lookify Results More Recent and Accurate?
The report Lookify gave me wasn’t fully accurate and up-to-date, which I heard is a common complaint among users, so CatfishNumber’s results were better.
– CatfishNumber Report Grade: A ✅

Starting with CatfishNumber’s report, it quickly found the full name of the caller, where they’re from, socials, and phone number details (carrier & line).
The first time I tested it, it was with a +1 number. Since CatfishNumber promises to work with international numbers, too, I tried a European one as well.
To my (pleasant) surprise, it worked again! Same success and plenty of useful information, including confirmation if the number is in use.
– Lookify Report Grade: B- ✅

Lookify’s results are limited since the service doesn’t work for non-US numbers; plus, you have to pay to unlock the full report. I proceeded anyway, but with an American number only.
The free results were similar to a NumLookup report: I only got carrier & line info and location. The full one showed me the caller’s name and additional details (gender, age, etc.).
Lookify got a couple of minor details wrong, or rather found outdated info, but the name was right. It gets a passing mark…for now.
| CatfishNumber | Lookify | |
| Grade | A | B- |
| Speed | ⚡ Full report delivered quickly | ⏳ Slower due to paywall |
| Global coverage | 🌍 US + international numbers | 🚫 US-only |
| Accuracy | 🎯 Accurate and up-to-date | ⚠️ Outdated or incorrect data |
| Details | Name, location, socials, carrier & line, and activity | Free: carrier & line, location; Paid: name, age, gender, etc. |
Where Do CatfishNumber and Lookify Fall Short?

Lookify’s global availability is practically non-existent because it works mainly for US numbers.
This was a big issue during my test, but since it’s built for Americans, it’s only fair that I judge its performance based on how it deals with +1 numbers.
Also, I don’t see the point in having a free reverse number search plan if the results are going to be intentionally low-quality to push users to subscribe.
The cheapest plan is $29/mo, and even then, the credits are limited to 500 without the API, much like ClarityCheck’s rate limits.
So you have to pay +$200 monthly to access every feature if you’re a business owner. If you’re an average Joe like me who occasionally looks numbers up, Lookify is not budget-friendly.
My complaint about CatfishNumber is the few pricing options. They are more convenient for occasional reverse number searching, but not professional use.
I wish CatfishNumber had more payment plans that offer lookup credits in bulk – businesses would find this more hassle-free.
